RNC Finals Technician
Job Summary
As a New Home HVAC Finals Technician, you will be responsible for completing the final HVAC work in newly constructed and renovated homes. You will work independently in homes nearing completion, completing finishing work, identifying deficiencies, performing system checks, and ensuring our installations meet Weiss-Johnson's quality standards.
This is a great position for someone with residential HVAC experience who enjoys troubleshooting, working independently, and seeing a job through to completion.
Key Responsibilities
HVAC Final Installation
- Complete HVAC final installations in newly constructed residential homes.
- Install and finish registers, grilles, thermostats, and other HVAC components.
- Complete HRV/ERV finishing and related HVAC components where applicable.
System Start-Up & Commissioning
- Complete furnace and HVAC system start-up and operational checks.
- Verify airflow, temperature, controls, and overall system performance.
- Commission HRV/ERV systems and confirm proper operation where applicable.
- Ensure equipment operates according to specifications and manufacturer requirements
Troubleshooting & Deficiency Correction
- Identify and correct HVAC installation deficiencies.
- Troubleshoot furnace, ventilation, controls, and airflow issues.
- Make necessary adjustments, repairs, and ductwork modifications.
- Verify corrective work is completed and systems are operating properly.
Documentation, Coordination & Communication
- Document HVAC deficiencies, repairs, adjustments, commissioning results, and completed work.
- Communicate outstanding issues, site conditions, and required corrective actions to supervisors and builders.
- Coordinate with supervisors, builders, and other trades to resolve installation conflicts and maintain project progress.
Tools, Equipment, Safety & Site Compliance
- Document HVAC deficiencies, repairs, adjustments, commissioning results, and completed work.
- Communicate outstanding issues, site conditions, and required corrective actions to supervisors and builders.
- Coordinate with supervisors, builders, and other trades to resolve installation conflicts and maintain project progress.
- Maintain accurate job documentation and support project schedules by completing assigned work on time.
Position Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve HVAC issues.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple homes throughout the day.
- Good attention to detail with a strong commitment to quality workmanship.
- Comfortable working with furnaces, HRVs/ERVs, thermostats, controls, ductwork, and residential HVAC equipment.
- Ability to communicate professionally with builders, supervisors, other trades, and homeowners.
- Reliable, organized, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Valid Alberta driver’s licence with a 5-year driver’s abstract
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous residential HVAC experience.
- Experience working in new home construction.
- Sheet metal or HVAC apprenticeship experience.
- Experience with HVAC final installation, start-up, commissioning, and deficiency correction.
- Experience with HRV/ERV finishing and commissioning.
- Familiarity with residential HVAC codes, manufacturer requirements, and construction standards

HVAC Service Technician
Job Summary:
The Technician will carry out residential service calls and preventative maintenance plans to ensure
better efficiency and longer lifespans on the client’s applicable equipment.
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance on residential HVAC systems
- Understand and be accountable for the performance and maintenance of mechanical systems
- Understand and be able to complete residential air conditioning and furnace repairs.
- Test repair equipment for proper performance
- Perform routine and emergency maintenance of HVAC units and associated components
- Keep detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation.
- Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology, compliance and repair techniques
- Daily vehicle inspections
- Use our current software program while completing required tasks on assigned tablet
Qualifications
(Required)
- 1 year of previous Service experience
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and independent environment with minimal supervision
- Basic technology skills including smart phones and tablets
Preferred
- Ability to work overtime and be in an on-call rotation
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, collaboratively with the team
- Own basic hand tools
- Must have a clean 5-year driving record
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- CSTS and WHMIS
Working Conditions
- Work is performed primarily at residential customer locations with frequent travel between service calls.
- Regular exposure to varying indoor and outdoor weather conditions, mechanical equipment, electrical components, and confined spaces.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. (23 kg), climb ladders, and work in attics, crawl spaces, and other restricted-access areas.
- May be required to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, overtime, and participate in an on-call rotation for emergency service calls.

- Install and replace water heaters, sump pumps, faucets, toilets, and valves
- Perform maintenance inspections and provide service recommendations
- Locate and mark positions for pipe connections, passage holes and fixtures in walls and floors
- Measure, cut, bend and thread pipes using hand and power tools or machines
- Join pipes using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement or soldering, brazing and welding equipment
- Cutting openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipes and pipe fittings
- Installing boilers and hydronic zone systems
- Reading and interpreting blueprints
- Clearly communicate with clients to explain issues and solutions
- Complete service documentation and keep records up to date
- Ensure compliance with provincial plumbing codes and safety procedures
- Ensuring positive interactions with customers and other contractors on site
- Staying current on the plumbing industry and code
- Maintain a clean and professional appearance and worksite
Qualifications:
- Journeyperson plumber Certification (preferred)
- 5 years Plumbing experience
- Experience in a commercial setting is an asset
- Experience installing commercial boilers and hot water tanks
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and attention to detail
- Cross connection backflow certification (or willing to become certified)
Other requirements:
- Ability to work overtime and be in an on-call rotation
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, collaboratively with the team

- Fabricate, assemble, and install, sheet metal products and equipment, such as galvanized duct work.
- Installation of new furnaces and air conditioners
- Install prefabricated sheet metal ducts used for heating, air conditioning, or other purposes.
- Ensuring compliance with appliance and Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Complying with service standards, work instructions and customers’ requirements.
- Other duties as required
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training in HVAC is an asset.
- Proven experience in residential sheet metal work or a related field.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
- Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, and sheet metal fabrication machinery.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of safety standards and practices in the sheet metal industry.
Other required qualifications:
- Valid class 5 drivers license with a clean commercial driving record
- WHMIS
- CSTS
- Own basic hand tools
- Physical ability to lift and move heavy materials and work in various weather conditions
- Ability to work in a fast paced and independent environment
