- Dry Air, Edmonton, Furnace, Heating, whole-home humidifier
It’s definitely going to get cold in Edmonton over the next few weeks. Not only that, our Alberta air is always so dry – our humidity (or, really, lack there-of) seems to always be an issue! It can be hard to stay comfortable, especially throughout the long winter season when the air gets colder and the humidity in our homes decreases. This makes us feel that the air is even drier than usual, especially indoors, but a whole-home humidifier can fix that!
We spend a lot of time inside, especially to stay out of the frigid cold all winter, so it’s vital that our indoor air quality remains healthy and comfortable. Your furnace is actually responsible for making the dry air we all feel even drier! The furnace lowers the relative humidity in your home (the amount of moisture the air is holding relative to the maximum amount it could hold at that temperature) as it raises the temperature. This is why your body feels that the air is getting drier the warmer you feel indoors and what results in dry skin, frizzy hair and chapped, broken lips.
Dry air can also affect your furniture and the structure of your home. Wood requires certain levels of moisture to retain its shape – without it, the wood can crack and shrink.
With a whole-home humidifier, you can avoid the dry air issue and prevent health problems and damages to your home – a total improvement to your indoor air quality.
You may consider using a portable humidifier instead of a whole-home system, but they are often unable to perform the way a whole-home unit will. They are also significantly less energy efficient, which means a portable unit will end up costing you more for lesser results!
An Aprilaire whole-home humidifier will deliver exceptional humidification results when it’s installed to your current home heating system. It will increase your comfort and your savings: as your relative humidity increases indoors, your thermostat will adjust to allow your furnace to work on less frequent cycles, which in turn can help you save significantly on your future utility bills.
Here at Weiss-Johnson, we seek to keep you and your family comfortable all year long. Our customers’ are always our number one priority!
